About this work
An engraved and hand-colored print shows a crowned king seated on a gilded throne at the top of a flight of steps, while a hunter holding a kite bird on his arm stands before him. Soldiers with helmets and spears and robed courtiers surround the scene beneath a heavy red curtain and classical columns. The plate is captioned as fable CCXXV, second plate, and bears the names of Oudry as inventor and Lempereur as engraver, dated 1759.
