About this work
An engraved print titled The Wane of the Honeymoon, after a painting by Francis Wheatley and engraved by R. Laurie, published in 1789. A seated woman in a plumed hairstyle and a man in a flowing cloak lean together in a classical interior, with a half-mask held in his hand and another mask and a tricorn hat on the carpet. Verse lines printed beneath the image add a comic tone to the scene.
