About this work
This etching by Charles Frederick William Mielatz, dated 1909, shows the Washington Arch framed by trees and viewed across a pool covered in water lilies. Horse-drawn carriages and well-dressed pedestrians move along the street beyond the arch, and the inscription on its attic is legible.
