About this work
A pen and ink drawing with soft wash colouring shows a small wooden building perched on a rocky bank beside a dam. Water spills over the rocks in a white cascade into a dark pool below, with trees and distant hills under a pale sky. The work is attributed to John Frederick Kensett and dated 1850.
