About this work

A loose study in watercolor and red and black chalk shows two standing figures on a path beside a stone wall, with green foliage washed across the upper part of the sheet. The composition is roughly blocked in with visible construction lines and a red chalk border framing the page. Charles Sprague Pearce made this study for a panel in 1890.
