About this work
The painting "Die Rast" by Wenzel Franz Jäger, dated 1905, shows a woman in a white headscarf and striped skirt seated on a rocky slope, tenderly holding a nursing infant wrapped in white cloth. A wicker basket and a folded white cloth rest on the ground beside her, with large mossy boulders and a cloudy sky behind.
