A nocturnal forest scene shows a group of figures in classical dress moving through a clearing, many holding torches that light the foliage and the ground. A distant pale horizon opens between the trees, and a reclining figure lies at lower right. This watercolor-toned work by Francis Oliver Finch is dated 1835 and is titled The Dell of Comus.
