About this work

An engraved pastoral landscape titled Aurora, after an invention by Nicolaes Pietersz Berchem. A shepherd plays a pipe beneath a large gnarled tree while cattle and sheep rest in the foreground, and a woman kneels at right milking a sheep. Rolling hills, a distant mountain range and a cloud-filled sky complete the scene.
