About this work
This triptych-style painting, titled Danish Comedy, the Critic and the Animal, was created by Agnes Slott-Møller in 1916. It shows a wooden stage in an outdoor setting with costumed performers, including a harlequin holding a Danish flag and a woman in a white tutu playing a mandolin, watched by men in top hats. Side panels depict a path leading toward a tent with a lit audience area.
