About this work

This study for a decoration, titled Ninfas by Eliseu Visconti and dated 1908, shows several pale, luminous female figures with raised arms swirling among clouds against a warm rose-red ground. The loose, fluid brushwork and drapery in white and pale blue suggest a preparatory sketch for a larger decorative scheme.
