About this work
This study depicts a horizontal composition of nude and winged figures floating among pale clouds and rays of light above a dark, curved mass that rises in the centre. The lower portion is rendered in broad brown tones, while the upper sky is painted in soft lavenders, pinks, and yellows. This study for the first frieze over the proscenium of the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro was painted by Eliseu Visconti in 1906.
