About this work
A pencil drawing shows a fortified complex built of timber, with steep shingled roofs, a tall conical-topped tower, and an open courtyard containing a stone well. Covered wooden galleries and bridges connect the structures, and loose cloud shapes fill the sky above distant hills. The work is signed and dated 1904 and is titled Wooden Wawel, illustration for Act I of The Legend, by Stanisław Wyspiański.
