About this work
A rural scene shows a group of villagers gathered on a dirt road among thatched huts, with a white horse and cart, playing children, and dogs in the foreground. A smoking brick chimney rises beside the dwellings under a bright sky, with a distant town visible across open fields. Titled Landvolk vor den Toren der Stadt, the painting is attributed to Friedrich Sturm.
