A rider with a long lance gallops a dark horse across a snow-covered plain under a blue-grey sky. Loose, quick brushwork renders the snow spraying around the hooves and the wind pressing against the figure. Adolf Schreyer's painting, dated 1880, is signed in the lower right corner.
