About this work
This black-and-white etching, titled Grote Staat in Maastricht and attributed to Alexander Schaepkens, shows a narrow urban courtyard lined with old multi-storey buildings. A large leafy tree dominates the left foreground, and a small seated figure rests near the bottom edge beside a path. The artist's signature or inscription appears in capital letters at the lower left.
