About this work
This painting, titled The Toilet of Venus by Bon Boullogne, shows the goddess Venus seated nude at the center of a pastoral setting, attended by women and playful putti. A winged Cupid aims his bow in the sky above, while a satyr in the lower left and nymphs in the water populate the foreground, and dancing figures appear in the distant meadow.
