About this work
A group of peasants travels along a dusty hillside road, several riding donkeys laden with baskets and casks while a man leads the way on foot. A bearded old man with a staff and a dog rest beside a basket in the foreground, with a distant city and a large dome visible across the open countryside. This work, Peasants at Monte Mario on their way to Romea, was painted by Dietrich Wilhelm Lindau in 1826.
