About this work

A 1928 book cover for the Russian publication Записки поэта, showing a large sepia photographic portrait of a bald man in three-quarter view overlaid on a faded profile and a newspaper background. Bold orange Cyrillic letters spell the title at the bottom, and the author's name, Илья Сельвинский, appears across the top, with the publisher Государственное издательство noted along the spine. The layered photomontage and constructivist typography are characteristic of the period's graphic design.
