About this work
Otto Mueller's Große Badende shows two nude female figures in a rough, textured painting, one in the foreground with a raised leg stepping through water and one smaller figure standing further back. The surface is built from broad, dry brushwork in violet, blue, and ochre tones that dissolve the shoreline into the sky.
