About this work
This pencil drawing shows the ruined stone pier of a railway bridge over a stream, with track curving down a hillside toward the water. A temporary wooden bridge crosses nearby, with wagons and mounted figures moving across it. Handwritten annotations mark rebel batteries on the ridge and the note that the bridge's remains fell into the stream; the work is by Edwin Forbes, dated 1862.
