A pencil sketch shows a column of soldiers, pack mules, and mounted officers marching across a rain-streaked hillside toward a distant farmhouse and tree line. Diagonal rain strokes fill the sky, and the figures in the foreground are drawn in more detail than the misty background. The work is attributed to Edwin Forbes and dated 1864.
