About this work
A brown-toned pencil and wash drawing shows two Union-style soldiers in a winter camp, one seated on planks beside a stone wall playing a fiddle while the other listens. Behind them stand a canvas tent, log cabins with stone chimneys, and a row of tepee-like shelters among pine trees. The work is titled Home, sweet home and is dated 1876, attributed to Edwin Forbes.
