About this work
This ink and wash drawing shows the damaged southeast angle of Fort Sumter, with collapsed brick walls, scattered rubble, and a flag flying above the ruins. Workmen climb ladders and move through the debris while a partly submerged pile of timber and barrels lies in the foreground.
