About this work

A pencil sketch on paper showing a three-masted sailing ship moored beside a row of arched warehouse buildings and a tall smokestack at the Charlestown Navy Yard. Two smaller boat studies appear in the lower right, and handwritten notes label the location and ask the viewer to turn the sheet over. The drawing is attributed to Alfred Waud and dated 1858.
