About this work

A pencil sketch shows a weathered log cabin with a sloped shingled roof and a stone chimney, set beside a tall, slender tree and a split-rail fence. The rough, textured drawing renders the building's logs and roof planks with loose hatching against a plain light-brown paper. This drawing by Alfred Waud is dated 1861.
