About this work
A pencil sketch shows a series of masonry arches supporting a flat parapet, with small cannons or artillery pieces resting on top and smaller guns positioned beneath the arches. A rough outline of a figure or cloud appears faintly above, and a handwritten label reading Ft. Monroe Gunnery is inscribed along the lower edge. The work is attributed to Alfred Waud and dated 1860.
