About this work
A pencil sketch shows mounted soldiers and several flags advancing across an open field, with horses and riders dense in the foreground. The handwritten notes on the mount identify it as a sketch of the 6th Corps headquarters at the opening of the Battle of Winchester, attributed to Alfred Waud and dated 1864.
