About this work
A pencil sketch shows a military headquarters encampment with a flag on a tall pole, canvas tents and figures gathered among them, set against a backdrop of tall trees. The handwritten inscription beneath reads "Head quarters near Jerusalem pike, A. of P." The drawing is credited to Alfred Waud and dated 1864.
