About this work

A pencil sketch shows a steep, sunken cut with sloping banks, shrubs and a few trees, drawn in loose graphite strokes on a tan sheet. Handwritten notes at the top and bottom identify the location as the R.R. Cut on Seminary Ridge at Gettysburg and describe a capture of enemy soldiers by a reserve unit. The work is attributed to Alfred Waud and dated 1863.
