About this work
A pencil sketch shows a paddle steamer with a large paddle wheel, a smokestack, and two masts with rigging, moving over choppy water. The handwritten inscription beneath reads "U.S. Transport Augusta" and notes that the Alabama is like the Augusta. The drawing is attributed to Alfred Waud and dated 1860.
