About this work
A pencil drawing on grey-green paper shows three ships in side profile, including a paddle steamer labeled Kanawha and two sailing vessels with handwritten captions. The inscriptions identify one vessel as a blockade runner, Joe Flanner, captured by Pembina off Mobile in 1863, and another as Elisha Beckwith. The work is attributed to Alfred Waud and dated 1863.
