About this work
A loose pencil sketch shows a low, undulating landscape beneath a cloudy sky, with a long earthen embankment in the foreground and small figures scattered along its base. Handwritten inscriptions read "Ft. Mahone" and "Mahone," and the work is attributed to Alfred Waud and dated 1865.
