About this work
A pencil sketch of a row of storefronts, with the sign reading "James E. Spear" across a central facade and "Read & Cos" with "Hat Store" lettering at the upper right. Loosely drawn figures stand and move along the street in front of the shops. The work is attributed to Alfred Waud and dated 1860.
