A graphite sketch on grey-green paper shows a covered sutler cart at Baileys Crossroads, with a woman vendor seated behind a counter stocked with goods. Soldiers in kepis and forage caps gather around the cart, several smoking pipes, while others stand or lounge in the background. The work is by Alfred Waud and dates to 1861.
