About this work
A pencil sketch on tinted paper shows two men in long coats and kepi-style caps standing beside a saddled horse, with a row of tents and trees rendered in loose shading to the right. Handwritten notes at the top read "Hanover Ct House, May 27-62" and along the bottom mention a camp of Signal Corps near Yorktown. The work is attributed to Alfred Waud and dated 1862.
