About this work
A pencil sketch on a grey-green ground shows a three-masted sailing warship in profile, with detailed rigging and a row of gun ports along its hull, while a smaller paddle steamer with a tall smokestack and flag appears in the upper right corner. The label "Wabash" is inscribed beneath the larger vessel, and the smaller one bears a handwritten name. The drawing is attributed to Alfred Waud and dated 1860.
