A pencil sketch shows a standing soldier in a cavalry-style uniform with a double row of buttons, shoulder epaulettes, and a tall shako with a plume. A helmet or cap and a sabre-like sword are drawn beside him, and the handwritten inscription reads 7th N.Y. 1860. The work is a drawing by Alfred Waud dated 1861 and is held by Wikimedia Commons.
