About this work
A pencil sketch on brown paper shows several vessels in profile, with a large paddle steamer with rigging and smokestacks dominating the lower half. Smaller ship studies appear in the upper area, one labeled Louisiana and another with the name Susquehanna written below. The work is attributed to Alfred Waud and dated 1860.
