About this work

This etching shows a village of rooftops and a church tower seen across a low stone wall, framed by tall slender trees on the right. Two figures bend near the foreground while another stands on the path at left, under a sky streaked with horizontal clouds. The print is attributed to Maxime Lalanne and dated 1860, after a composition associated with Corot.
