About this work
A woodblock print shows a seated Japanese man in dark clothing, smiling and holding a game piece, facing a distressed Russian man in a white shirt and striped trousers who grips his head beside a shogi board. Scattered pieces lie across the board and floor, and a vertical column of Japanese text appears at the top.
