About this work
A woodblock print by Kobayashi Kiyochika dated 1904 shows a Japanese officer in dark uniform pulling up a section of a map while a Russian officer in green coat and white cap stumbles backward. Japanese calligraphy fills the panel at the top and a vertical inscription runs along the left margin.
