About this work
A Japanese woodblock print by Kobayashi Kiyochika from 1905 shows a Japanese sailor and a soldier treating a nude, wounded Russian soldier seated on a stool, with burn marks and smoke rising from his back and legs. A column of Japanese calligraphy appears in a panel at the top, and a red seal and signature are visible at left.
