About this work
A colored woodblock-style print shows a bearded Russian soldier in a green coat and red cap riding a brown horse while waving white flags. Two companions in purple uniforms kneel and salute or paint a flag, and a rifle lies on the ground below. Japanese text runs down the right and left margins, and the title is given in English above the scene. The work is attributed to Kobayashi Kiyochika and dated 1904.
