About this work

A Japanese woodblock print shows caricatured Russian sailors in pink and dark uniforms, some lying wounded or dead in the foreground while others stand beside a steamship with smokestacks. A block of Japanese text in a cartouche fills the upper left, and the artist's seal appears in red at the lower right. The work is attributed to Kobayashi Kiyochika and dated 1904.
