About this work
A colored Japanese woodblock print shows caricatured figures in Russian-style uniforms and dress, with a kneeling scribe at lower left and a central officer gesturing dramatically. Columns of Japanese text and a short English handwritten caption at the top frame the satirical scene. The work is attributed to Kobayashi Kiyochika and dated 1905.
