This drawing, titled HMS Dorset royal yacht at the disposal of the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, was made by John Thomas Serres in 1787. It shows two large sailing ships with furled and billowing sails, one flying a Union flag, passing a round stone tower on a rocky shore under a dark, heavy sky. Smaller boats with figures are tossed on choppy grey-green waves in the foreground.
