A grisaille-toned scene shows two horse-drawn carriages on a wet urban street, one driver standing on his carriage with a whip while a uniformed man gestures nearby. A domed building wrapped in scaffolding and rows of multi-storey buildings line the background, with a crowd gathered at left. The work is dated 1887 and is titled Na placu św. Aleksandra by Władysław Podkowiński.
