About this work

This engraved print shows a large horse-riding spectacle in a walled courtyard, with mounted riders arranged in formations and spectators filling tiered stands along the front. A grand palace facade with a dome and long arcaded wings encloses the scene. The print is attributed to François Chauveau and dated 1670, and its Latin title describes the ring-riding courses and the placement of the troops in the amphitheatre on the second day.
