About this work
An engraved bird's-eye view shows a large oval arena enclosed by a wooden barrier, filled with mounted riders in formation and crowded tiers of spectators. A long palace facade with a central dome closes the scene, and an ornate cartouche at the bottom carries the title and a numbered key. The print is credited to François Chauveau and dated 1670.
