About this work

This oil sketch by Konstantin Makovsky, titled Angels, shows three nude cherub-like figures among soft white and blue clouds. One figure reclines on its back at left, while two others embrace and lean together at right, one with small feathered wings and a red drape. The loose, painterly brushwork gives the work the character of a study.
